A man in his 60s was attacked on Friday June 10 on the road from Aiguebelle to Rouyn-Noranda.
The attack happened around 9:30 am The victim, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to hospital.
The suspect fled, then was quickly arrested by the police and found.
This is Philippe Leclerc, a man in his twenties from Rouyn-Noranda. He showed up at the courthouse on Saturday via videoconference, and then again on Monday morning.
He faces three counts, probation violation, assault, and threats.
Philippe Leclerc remains incarcerated and must return to the courthouse on Tuesday.
As for the victim, his state of health has deteriorated and we now fear for his life according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The Investigations and Major Crimes Division is handling the case. Moreover, the forensic identification service went to the scene on Friday to analyze the scene of the attack.
