Tools unite for knowledge
In response to the Jair Bolsonaro government’s decision to restrict access to data related to the covid-19 pandemic, media outlets UOLO Estado de S. Paulo, Folha de S.Paulo, O Globo, g1 and Extra formed a consortium to work collaboratively to obtain the necessary information directly from the state health departments of the Federation’s 27 units.
The federal government, through the Department of Health, should be the natural source of these numbers, but the attitudes of officials and the president during the pandemic have cast doubt on the availability and accuracy of the data.
