The Winnipeg City Police Service discovered human remains at the Brady Road Landfill near Winnipeg on Wednesday.
Authorities are searching the grave for the remains of Rebecca Contois, whose body part was found in the North Kildonan area on May 16.
CBC/Radio-Canada has yet to confirm that these remains are linked to Ms. For example. A Winnipeg police spokesman said more information will be released at a news conference at 11 am Wednesday.
Shortly after the remains of Rebecca Contois were discovered on May 16, the Winnipeg Police Service secured a perimeter inside the grave.
Weather conditions and work preparations delayed the start of the search until June 2nd.
Rebecca Contois’ body part was found in the North Kildonan district on May 16.
Jeremy Skibicki has been charged with the murder of Ms Contois. He was a member of the Crane River First Nation and grew up in Winnipeg. She was also one of three Indigenous women killed in the city over two weeks in May.
Doris Trout was found dead in an apartment complex on Kennedy Avenue on May 19, just days after Rebecca Contois’s body was discovered.
Tessa Perry, seriously injured, was found May 28 at a residence in the Maples district, before succumbing to her injuries subsequently.
