The RCMP said searches conducted Thursday on properties allegedly linked to a neo-Nazi terrorist group in the Center-du-Québec region passed without incident and that the investigation is ongoing.
The investigation, which began in 2020, targets people suspected of being linked to the Atomwaffen Division, which has been listed as a federally-listed terrorist group since February 2021.
Armed tactical officers took part in the operation in the communities of Saint-Ferdinand and Plessisville.
Police said they searched the sites and the operation ended at 7 pm Thursday, without arrest.
RCMP Corporal Tasha Adams said Friday that as the investigation continues, she could not comment on what was seized or whether the searches were related to other investigations.
The Federal Department of Public Safety said the Atomwaffen Division was established in the United States in 2013 and has since spread to other countries, including Canada.
The ministry’s website says the group, also known as the National Socialist Order, is calling for acts of violence against racial, religious and ethnic groups as well as informants, police and bureaucrats to provoke the collapse. of society.
