Femicide: a woman died of severe burns in Scarborough

A 37-year-old woman died of her severe burns in hospital on Saturday after being found at a Scarborough residence the day before. Toronto police say it was a case of domestic violence.

Police say they were called to a fire at 275 Chester Le Blvd. He said he then found the victim, Henrietta Viski and two other men burned to varying degrees.

All were taken to hospital. The victim did not survive.

The service indicates that this is the 32nd homicide of the year in the metropolis.

Police have arrested a 38-year-old Toronto man in connection with the case.

Charges will be brought against this man. He will appear in court shortly.

Two cases of burns on the same Friday

This case of femicide happened on the same day that another woman was badly burned in an attack at a Toronto subway station.

The victim was taken to hospital and a 35-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
