Sûreté du Québec (SQ) divers say they recovered a body from the lake on Monday.
Divers recovered the body around 12:30 p.m. Monday. According to them, everything indicates that it is the kayaker who has been missing since Saturday, during an outing in Lac-Sainte-Marie.
The disappearance was reported Saturday evening, around 6 p.m., by the spouse of the man who lost sight of him while the couple was out on Lake Sainte-Marie.
Police and firefighters quickly began an evening search of the body of water.
During the night, police continued to comb the banks. We’ve located the individual’s kayak. On the other hand, the man is still missingsaid Sunday morning Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
Important deployment
A command post had been deployed early Sunday and officers continued to search the territory on foot.
Two watercraft also swept the body of water in addition to a full team of divers combing the lake.
A Sûreté du Québec helicopter was also called in to fly over the waters at the end of the afternoon.
Research continues. Despite the darkness, we still have police officers scouring the banks to locate the manhad declared agent Catherine Bernard, spokesperson, at the Sûreté du Québec.
