Lukaku, who left Inter a year ago after playing two seasons in their ranks (2019-2021), started his first game since his return from Chelsea. Received with a standing ovation by the ‘Nerazzurri’ fans present in Lugano, he played 65 minutes although he did not have any clear chances.
All reinforcements debut
Simone Inzaghi also lined up almost all the other reinforcements that have arrived at Inter so far (Raoul Bellanova, Kristjan Asllani and Henrikh Mkhitaryan). Metá André Onana entered after the break.
And it was the Albanian Asllani who served the corner in minute 3 that allowed D’Ambrosio, unmarked, to head into the net (0-1). After a quarter of an hour it was 0-2 after a serious mistake by goalkeeper Amir Salpi in the delivery and Lautaro Martínez took advantage of the gift.
Strap, goal and assistance
Lugano, from the Swiss top flight, had a couple of chances to score but Joaquín Correa, who came on in the second half, made it 0-3 in a great individual play after leaving two rivals and crossing into the net (61 ‘).
The Argentine also provided the assist for the 0-4 to Lautaro Martínez, who defined with a perfect shot (73′). Already in the last moments, Lugano achieved the goal of honor when Alessandro Casciato fell a bounced ball and beat Onana.
