The agreement, which FMOQ members will have to ratify in the coming weeks, is based on three key principles.

Under this agreement, patients registered on the waiting list at the Family Physician Access Window (GAMF) will gradually be registered with a family medicine group (GMF).

Priority will be given to the most vulnerable patients. The government estimates that approximately 100,000 people will be registered by March 31, 2023.

The agreement will also ensure that a patient can have access to their family doctor, to him or another physician in the group, in the event of an urgent need, within 36 or 72 hours depending on his or her clinical situation.

The government also aims to make the Guichet d’accès la première ligne (GAP) a point of entry for patients without a family doctor, to be cared for by the right professional. within a reasonable time.

The agreement in principle we present today is the result of several months of discussions, sometimes intense, but always with the shared view that the status quo is no longer an option in terms of access.
