MP Pierre Arcand will not stand for re -election next October.
Radio-Canada was able to confirm the news in the office of Liberal leader Dominique Anglade, which was first published this morning by The Press, that Pierre Arcand left political life.
Tomorrow the PLQ candidate to replace him will be announced.
Pierre Arcand retired after 15 years in the field of politics. The MP for Outremont-Mont-Royal was first elected in 2007.
Subsequently, he was parliamentary assistant in the Ministry of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade. He also served as President of the Treasury Board, Environment and Energy and Natural Resources and served as Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie from 2008 to 2010.
In December 2020, despite government recommendations not to travel because of the pandemic, Pierre Arcand was seen, according to Radio-Canada, on vacation in Barbados. A story that caused a lot of ink to flow into the media.

Among them, Paule Robitaille, Hélène David, Nicole Ménard, Jean Rousselle, former Health Minister Gaétan Barrette, former ministers Christine St-Pierre, Lise Thériault and Francine Charbonneau as well as MP Monique Sauvé.
