An unsightly counter-demonstration organized on Tuesday on the sideline of an NDP rally in central Ontario could not be punished, according to authorities.
Peterborough Police said in a video shared on social media on Thursday that they had received a complaint and opened an investigation into the incident. circumstances where NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was repeatedly harassed and insulted by protesters.
The video of this episode – called by Acting Police Chief Tim Farquharson discouraging and of morally unacceptable -originally aired on TikTok before going viral on Wednesday. It is accompanied by keywords like #Freedomthroughunity or #takecanadaback.
The incident was widely criticized, not only by the principal concerned, but also by political opponents, including candidates for conservative leadership Jean Charest and Scott Aitchison.
