To address the lack of spaces for childcare, the Minister of Families, Mathieu Lacombe, announced on Thursday a 76% increase in Infrastructure Funding Program (PFI) levels for early childhood centers (CPE).
This increase will make it possible to create new areas for child care soon. in the context plagued by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the overheating of the construction sectorsaid in a press release by the Minister of the Family, Mathieu Lacombe.
For example, this historic increase will allow, for an 80-area project in Chaudière-Appalaches to increase the budget from 1.7 million dollars to 2.9 million dollars, according to Mr. Lacombe.
He explained that the shortage of labor as well as materials and inflation has led to an increase in construction costs, leading to delays in the delivery of construction sites.
However, the minister said So proud of this investment, which he considers a response to the needs of Quebec families.
This program is part of the work of Great Works for Families, a plan announced by Quebec in October. And that aims to create 37,000 places currently missing from the network by March 2025.
