Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in early April his intention to offer money to newly arrived Ukrainians to help them settle in Canada.

A one-time payment of $ 3,000 per adult and $ 1,500 per child will be offered to Ukrainians and their family members who come under an emergency program that allows them to live, work and study in Canada within up to three years.

The government approved 120,668 applications on May 25 under the emergency program, and more than 35,000 Ukrainians arrived in Canada between January 1 and May 22.

The portal to be used for financial aid applications was launched on Thursday and payments are expected to be directly deposited into the bank accounts of newcomers within five days of application.

Applications were opened at the right time for the arrival in Canada of the last three government charter flights from Ukraine, carrying hundreds of Ukrainians who had fled the fighting in their country.
