The Parti Québécois (PQ) is saddened by the exclusion of its leader and the “word in s”, sovereignty, from the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of René Lévesque.
Monday will begin celebrations in memory of the founder and first leader of QP
but we are not leaving room for his successor, PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon lamented on Wednesday. The event will take place at the Grande Bibliothèque de Montréal in the presence of a large number of guests, including Premier François Legault, who himself is a former member of the PQ, but also former leaders of QP
such as Prime Ministers Lucien Bouchard and Jean-François Lisée.In a scrum in parliament, Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon said he had a hard time seeing how someone would celebrate René Lévesque, while rejecting the Parti Québécois and rejecting the fact he dedicated his life to Quebec’s independence.
According to him, the trend wants to bury the word in sbecause we can’t seem to say soberanya.
