Suspension of obligation to be vaccinated for domestic travel

The federal government has confirmed the suspension of the obligation to be vaccinated for domestic travel by plane and train.

The measure will take effect on June 20, Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said at a press conference.

Foreign travelers entering Canada must continue to follow all requirements, including immunizations and use of the ArriveCAN appunderlined Mr. Alghabra.

Furthermore, travelers must continue to wear masks on planes and trainsadded the minister.

On cruise ships, vaccination of tourists and employees will remain mandatory due to the increased risk of spread associated with obscenity.

The Minister of Transportation also recommends that Canadian travelers traveling abroad carefully review the policies in place. For example, some countries still require vaccination to cross the border.

For federal employees as well

The change will also affect federal workers placed on unpaid leave because of their immunization status.

The government did not disclose how many employees were laid off, but it reported that 98.5% of the 283,000 federal employees were fully vaccinated, with two doses.
