Chief RoseAnne Archibald, suspended by the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) last Friday, responds sharply to her association.
Ms. Archibald questions Monday on the Twitter platform the procedure for awarding contracts within the APN asking for more transparency and honesty .
She invites members of the First Nations to the social network to contact their #leader and council to request a #forensic audit on salary payments and contracts at the APN .
She demands in the following publication an independent investigation into #corruption, collusion and the toxic environment at the AFN .
1/ What you see unfolding is 34 years in the making. I’ve always fought & pushed back against patriarchy, corruption and oppression – continually asking for #accountability, #transparency and #truth.#AFNForensicAuditNow pic.twitter.com/XqisNeNux5

2/ I’m always grateful when others have joined me in my relentless pursuit of #justiceespecially for our most vulnerable and marginalized in my mind and heart.

3/ I’ve worked for the last 4 years to make processes #transparent & #honest. The AFN likes to “tweak” things. Substantial changes have been resisted. In 1989, I took on the federal government. I’ve taken on international forest giants. With the help of others, I’ve always won.

4/ I am calling on #allies and friends to reach out to you #Chief and Council to make a resonable request: (1) a #forensic #audit into salary payouts and contracts at AFN; and (2) an independent investigation into the #corruptioncollusion and toxic environment at AFN.

5/ It’s reasonable 2 ask 4 this, given what’s happening, with a questionable investigation, my suspension from the board of directors (although I am still the duly elected National Chief), & the AFN CEO cutting off my phone, I hope everyone can see that the AFN needs an overhaul.

6/ Rise-up #allies and have your #voice heard by contacting your Chiefs today through emails and phone calls.
If you are non-Indigenous, please email/call Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and your local MP, MPP and ask for the same.

By this gesture, RoseAnne Archibald contravenes the directive of her board of directors which ordered her at the time of her suspension on Friday not to publicly discuss the ongoing investigation in addition to banning him from attending the annual general meeting and the assembly of chiefs in early July in Vancouver.
Chief Archibald also argues that the APN is resisting to change and that her work as an Aboriginal politician has always been guided by a fight against the patriarchy, corruption and oppression.
The APN justified the suspension of Ms. Archibald last Friday by serious breaches of his obligations to the AFN [à travers] unfounded public attacks on the integrity of our organization and our people that will only serve to undermine the good work we do .
