The last session of the examination of the text on purchasing power will have lasted eight hours before concluding at dawn on Friday. It was peppered with invective and insults, on both sides of the hemicycle, particularly between the RN and the Nupes.

While the debates on the examination of the text by purchasing power continued until early Friday morning. Several incidents marked this last session. One of them occurred during the study of the modifications of article 12, relative to the security of the gas supply.

“Of course we know the strategy of the extreme right that acts like the bat in the fable. At the bird festival it shows its wings. At the fachos party, the hair shows”, denounced the deputy LFI Hauts. -de-Seine Aurélien Saintoul, at the microphone of the Assembly.

This parody of “The Bat and the Two Weasels” by Jean de La Fontaine scandalized the RN deputies, who shouted it out.

“Restore order to your troops!”

As soon as the expression “fachos party” was pronounced, the Somme deputy Jean-Philippe Tanguy brandished the regulation. Hélène Laporte, president of the session and RN-elect, also called the left-wing elected official to order.

“Don’t you know La Fontaine?” Then Aurélien Saintoul pretended to be surprised. “I did not insult them, I characterized them,” he added, to the attention of the deputies of the National Association.

In response, the elected RNs began banging on their desks, preventing Aurélien Saintoul from continuing his comments. “Put order in your troops,” he demanded of the vice-president of the Assembly. “It seemed to me that La Fontaine was the genius of the French language and that you would at least respect him,” he added to applause from his camp.

“You behave like Zadists”

In response, the desks of the National Meeting pounded harder, despite calls for calm from the session chair. “It’s still awesome!” exclaimed Mathilde Panot. “No, but there is a scandal!” she added to the growing hubbub.

“I think you behave like Zadists”, commented the deputy from Nupes ironically in reference to the declarations of Marine Le Pen who had described the leftist union as “Zad”.

The tables did not stop in their uproar, the president ended up demanding the suspension of the session.

Minutes later, the debates resumed. “I remind you that in this hemicycle not everything can be said, everything cannot be done”, warned Hélène Laporte, however, to the management of Nupes and her own camp.

A few hours before, it had been she who had been at the origin of an incident, also causing the suspension of the session. Giving the floor to Jean-Philippe Tanguy, then to Marine Le Pen in the process, the RN vice-president of the Palais-Bourbon was accused of “favouritism” by the Nupes deputies who ended up leaving the hemicycle.
