In the middle of the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Bruno Le Maire requested a second deliberation on an amendment by the LIOT group, which had been adopted a few hours earlier.

This Tuesday, at the end of the day, the deputies voted, against the Government’s opinion, an additional revaluation of 500 million euros for retirement pensions, in the context of discussions on the finance reform bill. But at the end of the examination of this text, the Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire asked for a second deliberation.

Therefore, a new vote was held this Wednesday at 2:39 am and the government’s rewrite amendment was adopted (224 for, 121 against).

“You’re allergic to social progress”

Faced with this new vote, the opposition harshly criticized the decision of the Minister of Economy. “You are allergic to the right to retirement, you are allergic to social progress,” communist Pierre Dharréville launched, while his comrade André Chassaigne described the government amendment as a “trap.”

“The time has come to admit the votes of this Assembly”, argued Caroline Fiat (LFI), before the Nupes deputies proclaimed “Democracy! Democracy!”. in the chamber.

Minutes later, Bruno Le Maire denied “any step in force”, recalling that the regulations of the National Assembly authorize a second deliberation at the request of the Government.
