After the National Assembly this afternoon, the senators approved this Thursday the Treasury reform project, definitively validating the package of measures for purchasing power. 233 senators voted in favor, 97 against.
Previously in the Assembly, the deputies approved it by 292 votes in favor, 120 against and 98 abstentions. In addition to the majority, most of the elected LRs voted for it, presenting themselves as “the only useful opposition for the French”. RN elected officials abstained, arguing that they did not want to “hinder” the little “progress” that had been made. The left voted against, after a last position of the socialists through a final motion rejecting the “crumbs” proposals.
End of the audiovisual license canon
The modified budget project opens 44,000 million euros in credits, including 9.7 to finance the renationalization of 100% of EDF. The revaluation of the civil servants’ index point, the abolition of the audiovisual canon, the continuation of the tariff shield on energy and the reduction of fuel with 30 cents per liter in September-October then November 10-December are scheduled.
Between the presidential majority and the right, common ground was found Wednesday night in a joint joint committee, in particular on the controversial issue of the monetization of RTTs, which the Senate wanted to perpetuate. This takeover by voluntary companies of the RTT of employees, for those willing to work more, will finally be possible until the end of 2025.
As for the exceptional back-to-school bonus, which the Senate wanted to reserve for low-income workers and not for the social minimum, which caused outcry from the left, a compromise was also made there. The bonus will be paid to the beneficiaries of the minimums and also to the recipients of the activity bonus.
No taxes on “super profits”
For his favorable vote on Thursday at the end of the day, the head of senators LR Bruno Retailleau had made it a condition to maintain another addition to the Senate, on the establishment of a Vitale biometric card. This was the case, “to combat fraud.”
But there will be no tax on the “super profits” of the large groups, as the left, the extreme right and certain centrists claim. Bruno Le Maire finished off his opposition to the “Pavlovian reflection of the tax”, but requested at the highest international level by the UN chief.
In the reform of the Treasury Law project for 2022 there is also support for local entities, with a total endowment finally estimated at 600 million euros.
The first part in favor of purchasing power, which this Wednesday received the green light from Parliament, includes tripling the top of the Macron bonus that businessmen can pay, a 4% increase in pensions and various bonuses, as well as “deconjugalization” of the disabled adult allowance.
