Emmanuel Macron chairs this Wednesday the Council of Ministers of the return to school. Cameras were invited to the opening to film his opening remarks. He appealed to the French sense of sacrifice.

He had already urged the French to “accept to pay the price of our freedom and our values” from Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var on Friday. And this Wednesday, presiding over the Council of Ministers that marks the return of the executive, Emmanuel Macron further reinforced the seriousness of his message.

“We are witnessing a great change, or a great shock. We are living the end of recklessness”, warned the head of state. Pointing to a “series of crises” and citing “the rise of authoritarian regimes”, the “return from war” for six months, Emmanuel Macron further warned: “Our regime of freedom has a cost, which may require sacrifices.”

Macron wants “seriousness and credibility”

He also analyzed, this time at an economic and ecological level: “It is the end of an abundance, that of products and technologies.” “Scarcity appears, that of this or that material or technology, and that of water,” he explained.

The President of the Republic also sent a warning of another order to his ministers: “I expect seriousness and credibility in the face of anguish.”
