He had already urged the French to “accept to pay the price of our freedom and our values” from Bormes-les-Mimosas in the Var on Friday. And this Wednesday, when presiding over the Council of Ministers that marks the return of the executive, Emmanuel Macron further reinforced the seriousness of his message. “I believe that what we are experiencing is of the order of a great turn or a great turnaround,” warned the Head of State, who continued, addressing both the economic and energy chapters: Basically, we are experiencing the end of abundance, that of free cash -we will have to draw the economic consequences-, that of products and technologies that seemed perpetually available to us, the breaking of value chains. The scarcity of this or that material or technology, such as water, reappears. We’ll have to make arrangements.”
