Bad communication idea? On the occasion of its summer school in Blois which starts this Friday, the Socialist Party has published various items and accessories that will be sold to activists over the weekend. Pins with the PS logo, a bottle of water with the inscription “Soif de gauche” or even a “tote-bag” with the inscription “La vie en rose”.
But it is the fourth object, a cap, which made Internet users react the most on Thursday night. Because we can read on the red headdress “Make the left great again”… a slogan and an object that refer directly to the codes of Donald Trump.
The former Republican president of the United States did indeed have the slogan “Make America great again” and his supporters were easily recognizable at rallies thanks to the red caps on which the slogan was inscribed.
Trump’s graphic codes
This choice of communication is, therefore, quite strange for a political formation at odds with the values promoted by Donald Trump. Contacted by our colleagues at HuffPost, the PS had not responded to requests from the press overnight.
Heavily criticized on social media, the fate of this “Make the Left Great Again” cap could be discussed as part of PS summer school this afternoon. According to the official program of the event, a workshop on the “place of digital in the field” will be offered to activists. Alizée Ostrowski, “responsible for communication of the party”, will intervene.
