Thomas Ménagé, RN deputy for the 4th Loiret constituency, reacted this Friday morning to the controversy surrounding private swimming pools, in a context of water scarcity. For the chosen one, France Inter’s guest of tomorrow, “the pool is not something elitist”.
“They are French who do not go on vacation, who have a pool in a kit because they can no longer go out, because they no longer have the means,” he added.
Several elected officials believe the issue needs to be addressed, notably EELV chief Julien Bayou, who claimed, on BFMTV, not to rule out banning private pools as a “last resort.” “The challenge is not to ban swimming pools, it is to guarantee our vital needs for water,” he later specified on Twitter, while his departure had generated strong criticism.
“He is totally demagogue”
MP RN also addressed the issue of private jets. Transport Minister Clément Beaune confirmed on Thursday that regulation of the private jet sector is on the agenda.
“At a national level as well as at a European level, we can think of systems, whether taxation or regulation,” he said, on the set of France 2.
However, a ban such as the one proposed by the general delegate Julien Bayou would not be “not serious”, tempered the delegate minister. A proposal that Thomas Ménagé considers “totally demagogic”. “It is completely forgetting that behind private jets there are subsidiaries, equipment manufacturers, companies, people who work at airports,” explained the deputy.
