“I will put all my energy into seeking compromises in the Republican arch, as requested by the President of the Republic. I have no doubt that in some benches we will continue in systematic obstruction, as we have been able to see during the extraordinary session. “, he developed.

“I am also aware that, for an opposition group, it is symbolic to vote for a budget. But if necessary, there are tools in the Constitution to be able to move forward,” he added.

“Reduce France’s deficit to 3%”

The government will face, with the PLF, its first great test of the legislature, without an absolute majority in the National Assembly.

“Our objective is to reduce France’s deficit to 3% at the end of the five-year period and lower the debt. That is the meaning of the budget that will be presented. I am not going to anticipate this presentation, but during each discussion that I had with the ministers, I asked them to look for transformations in their field that would allow them to generate savings”, stressed Élisabeth Borne.

“Some want to arouse anger”

The prime minister also took aim at Jean-Luc Mélenchon, deploring that “some want to provoke anger and want chaos for our country.”

“Mathilde Panot (president of the LFI group in the Assembly) speaks of disorder in the National Assembly and in the streets. On the contrary, I believe that the French are not waiting for disorder. They are waiting for us to respond to their concerns. about ecological transition, purchasing power, etc. ”, she insisted.

As for the National Group, “with or without a tie, the extreme right continues to be the extreme right”, judged the President of the Government, given the search for respectability pursued by Marine Le Pen’s party.
