A handball match played as part of a recreational league in the province of Córdoba ended in a scandal after a player punched and kicked an opponentwhich for the violence of the blows received ended with a concussion.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in a match played andBetween the teams of the Barrio Parque B and the Municipality of Salsipuedes by the Lichar League, organized by the Cordobesa Handball Federation.
When there were 6 minutes left in the game and Barrio Parque B largely dominated the game and the scoreboard – the local team won 43 to 14 -, one of the Salsipuedes players, wearing the 99 shirt, accused a rival of a move .
When it seemed that the ban had ended there, and as the game continued in another sector of the field, the Salsipuedes player approached the rival with whom he had quarreled without him noticing and hit him with a violent punch which hit exactly in the middle of the face.
The neighborhood park player he fell heavily to the ground, passed out from the violence of the blow. His attacker took the opportunity to climb on top of him and keep hitting him with his fist, then stood up and kicked the opponent, who was still lying on the ground.
The violent and unjustified aggression sparked a brawl between the players of both teams, who twisted their fists, while the flying kicks and thrusts multiplied.
The player attacked in the first moment had to be transferred to a nearby hospital to be treated for suffering a concussion following the blows received.
The attacker, meanwhile, was arrested by the police and remained in custody for a few hours after being reported.
“Everyone tried to get him out of the way so that I would stop hitting the Barrio Parque player, it was an attack for no reason. Up to that point, the game had gone smoothly,” said the press officer and Barrio Parque player, Nacho Alcántara, at the radio station of Cordoba Cadena 3.
“We ask that this not be repeated and that these acts of violence not be repeated. We need the disciplinary court of the Handball Federation to make the corresponding decisions,” added the representative of the Barrio Parque.
For its part, the Cordoba Handball Federation has issued a declaration of repudiation of the facts.
“Given the events that took place on 4 October at the Barrio Parque club (…) we affirm that this Federation firmly repudiates any act of violence that could take place inside or outside a playing field”, wrote the Federation.
“We will insist on exemplary sanctions to ban violent behavior from the discipline that concerns us,” the institution added in its statement.
