It didn’t take long, but the captains of Gimnasia and Boca, Brahian Aleman and Marcos Rojo – who had not been called up – made remarkable gestures with the fans affected by the incidents that caused the suspension of the game in La Plata. They supplied water with the intention that the effects of tear gas.

The reality is that water is only useful if it is abundant, mixed with soap and if the affected skin is rinsed for about 15 minutes. The effects wear off and disappear after about 30 minutes: the real antidote to not having such bad moments when exposed to the chemical is lemon. Citrus allows you to reduce the burning caused.

The reflex action of the players was to provide water to the most affected in the stands: they had bottles belonging to both campuses. In the midst of the inexplicable and irrational action of the Police, the gesture of the players was – albeit wrong – one of the most sensible of the night in La Plata.

The despair of the players was supreme. Not just because of the consequences they themselves suffered, but because there were relatives on the other side of the fence.

Before the suspension was confirmed, some players had come out of the locker rooms to try to find their loved ones, placed in the stalls or in the stands: they too were “locked up” inside the stadium, following a decision that no one presumed however that it was organized and that it would be determined in the next few hours.

In the same way that some tried to help with water and other drinks, some chose to entrust the body to the Carabinieri who tried to stop the fans who jumped on the playing field trying to escape the gas, as the exits had a door lock.
