Three people were killed on Friday after a shooting broke out at Whitmer High School, whose team was playing a football game against Central Catholic.

According to the police department, two women and a man were killed. The victims were transported to a local hospital with non-fatal injuries.

In a statement released by Central Catholic High School, the school’s principal, Kevin Parkins, called on the community to put safety first.

Local media reported seeing shells along the road on the corner of Whitmer and Edgar, which is the southwest corner of the high school stadium. A witness said the game was about eight minutes away. However, the game was abruptly stopped after gunshots were fired.
