There are 20 days left to the start of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, and with the major European leagues in action, every shot is a scare for the coaches of the teams who will claim to be present at the maximum event. Days ago Giovani Lo Celso and Dibu Martínez alerted Lionel Scaloni’s coaching staff. Today it is the turn of Belgium and one of its greatest figures: Romelu Lukaku.
The Inter striker is not experiencing his best semester. After a weak period at Chelsea, Lukaku has returned to Italy with the aim of reaching the World Cup in the best possible way, but things are not going well for him.
The Belgian missed much of the preseason due to an ankle injury and, just as he began to add minutes, suffered a sprain that took him off the pitch for more than two months.
The latter injury occurred in the left thigh and, for the same, Lukaku was excluded from up to 12 calls. He added more minutes last Wednesday, in Inter’s victory against Viktoria Plzen for the continuity of the Champions League, and also marked on the scoreboard. On Saturday he played again against Sampdoria, but this time Lautaro’s attacking partner Martínez was unable to convert.
In the last few hours, Inter have reported that Lukaku has suffered a new hamstring injury and there is concern in the Belgian national team. The striker’s latest injury was revealed after medical examinations, after the duel against Sampdoria for Serie A, and the club indicated that the striker “will be re-evaluated in a few days”.
The injury occurred a few days before the next Inter match, which he will have to face Bayern Monaco this Tuesday, to close Group C of the Champions League, which already sees the Bavarians and Nerazzurri qualified for the knockout round.
Although the passage to the next round has already been sealed, and also the second position in the group, the match against the German giant would have been fundamental for Lukaku. The Belgian aimed to return to the property after more than two months.
