Neuer indicated that he had a scar near his nose and that he “had to operate there three times and I had skin cancer there,” in a video to announce the launch of his skin care product line with the ex. number one tennis player in the world. Angelica Kerber.

“We both have very personal stories when it comes to skin diseases. For Angelique it is sun-induced hyperpigmentation and, in my case, skin cancer on the face, for which I had to undergo surgery three times,” he said. Neuer confirmed in a press release, in which he also referred to the tennis player Angelique Kerber, his partner in this feat.

Neuer and Kerber’s goal is to draw on their experiences to raise awareness of skin care and sun exposure. “We can’t make concessions when it comes to sun protection. Not only do I train all day outdoors, but I also like being out in nature when I have time,” said the 2014 Brazil champion goalkeeper.

Neuer did not say when he was operated on, but last year he was seen wearing a band on the affected area.

In view of the World Cup in Qatar, Neuer, 36, has not played since 8 October due to a shoulder problem. Bayern have indicated that he could return on Saturday when he faces Hertha Berlin.

Neuer started at Schalke 04 and was with the club until 2011. He then moved on to Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga 10 times, plus six German Cups, seven German Super Cups, two Champions League, two European Super Cups and two World cup for clubs.
