The presence in the World Cup of Dani Alves

At 39 and despite being in the last stretch of his career (playing for the Pumas de México), Tite surprised by including Dani Alves in the bona fide list. He will be Danilo’s replacement in the right sector of the defence.

And the Juve man himself praised his partner: “On the field, everyone knows what he can represent. He has shown incredible strength to return to his career. He can give a lot to the team, even characteristics that I cannot give. He has shown a passing quality, looking for space, that few players, even other locations, they have. In terms of leadership, Daniel is undoubtedly an example.”

Continuing the praise, he added: “We were saying this morning that it’s very easy, when everything is going well, for people to call you resilient. And when things aren’t so great, then it’s time to look at resilience. And we talked about this, that he has tried to improve, adapt to the moment to be in the best shape possible and fulfill his dream of playing in another World Cup. He’s an inspiration off the pitch, always motivated, always happy. In training he doesn’t relax, he always gives 110%. Daniel is an example of leadership and motivation, which I admire.”

For his part, Tite explained the call for Alves, who will play in his third World Cup tournament: “The criterion is the same as all the others: it combines individual technical quality, physical strength and mental aspect. Some have more quality in one aspect, others in another. In my team full-backs don’t play full-backs, they are builders and the technical quality that Dani offers me in this sense is impressive”.
