The Buenos Aires Padel Master 2022 begins to enter the definition stages, and while some couples establish themselves as candidates to keep the title, many others begin to say goodbye to La Rural. A match, however, was an obligatory comment at the Palermo complex, and not just for the sporting result. The duo formed by Leo Augsburger and Tino Libaak gave the surprise by eliminating Pablo Lijo and Javi Ruiz, but the spotlight has remained on the Spanish couple for an unfortunate reason.

It all happened in the third set, in full tiebreak. The young Argentinian couple was one step away from hitting the ground, but the cameras were left with a very nasty attitude from Lijó, who by now was already at loggerheads with the Argentine public. The Spaniard took off his private parts in front of the stands of La Rural, and the controversy was resolved there.

In the end, Augsburger and Libaak carried the game forward and the Spaniards said goodbye to Buenos Aires earlier than expected. After what happened, Lijó was instructed to provide a statement through his social networks, where he expressed the following: “Congratulations Leandro Augsburger and Tino Labaak. Today these guys explained to us what the will to win is and I am very happy to see the happiness on their faces.”

“To the public… These guys beat us playing on the pitch and we didn’t have a single problem. They didn’t need to litter this game like that. Likewise, a professional should have been calmer and not go into provocations. Apologies for that and will be coming next year as if nothing happened. Rest and recover for what’s to come,” concluded Lijó.

Despite the apology, since World tour of padel They decided to act on it with a statement: “Given the alleged unsportsmanlike behavior towards the public present at La Rural, World Padel Tour, through its Sports Disciplinary Committee, open an investigation into the events in the round of 32 match of the Buenos Aires World Padel Master played by Pablo Lijó and Javier Ruíz against Leandro Augsburgery and Tino Libaak”.

Far from being left behind, Pablo Lijó doubled down on the bet and responded to the post with some strong statements: “I already told them I’m not afraid. They won’t shut me up with this”, replied the Spaniard, who could now be exposed to an even more serious penalty. It should be remembered that this is not the first cross between Lijó and the organization, for months he had accused the World Padel Tour of taking advantage of the ‘disunion of the players’.

“The World Padel Tour has taken advantage of the disunity of all of us to take paddle tennis wherever it wants, ignoring the player on several occasions, acting as an all-powerful master to whom we must serve as faithful slaves,” Lijó had detailed in an extensive letter. Regarding the high command of the organization, he closed: “They are being sued for 25 million euros and he himself hasn’t invoiced even 60 thousand euros in the last three years, which is laughable”.

Since then, the relationship between the experienced player and the organization would not have been the best. This week he was the protagonist of a shameful episode in the Argentine lands, and from the World Padel Tour they would have analyzed the possibility of sanctioning Lijó, who despite the controversy did not hesitate to announce that he will return to Buenos Aires next year.
