Manchester City’s Spanish manager PEP Guardiola, renewed his contract for two years and will continue in his position in the England squad until 2025.
This was announced this Wednesday by the Premier League champion club, through a press release,
“I am very happy to be staying at Manchester City for another two years,” Guardiola said in a club statement. The 51-year-old former FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has won nine trophies since joining Manchester in 2016, including four Premier League titles.
“I am delighted that Pep’s journey with Manchester City Football Club continues,” City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said in a statement.
Guardiola’s current spell at City is the longest in charge of a single club since he began his managerial career in 2008.
“He’s already contributed so much to the success and fabric of this organization and it’s exciting to think what might be possible given the energy, hunger and ambition he clearly still has.”
The Catalan coached Barcelona between 2008 and 2012 and spent three years in charge of Bayern Munich before joining City.
City are second in the league on 32 points from 14 games, five points behind leaders Arsenal, with the season interrupted for the World Cup in Qatar.
“I know the next chapter of this club will be incredible in the next decade. It has happened in the last ten years and it will happen in the next ten years, because this club is very stable,” Guardiola said.
