With the hallmark of his style, Spain quickly opened the match against Costa Rica. Barely eleven minutes Costa Rica held on. With patience, elegant play and great precision, Spain quickly opened the opposition defense to take the lead. So, he handled the game to his liking. And when he proposed it, he accelerated and increased the score.

After 20 minutes, in another maneuver with many touches, Luis Enrique’s team went 2-0 up. He cheated on the right, opened on the left and finished in the center. Jordi Alba overflows and throws a cross behind for the arrival of Asensio, who he defines with a running left foot. A typical Barcelona move in the time of Messi, when Jordi Alba himself enabled it in the same way.

And as if that weren’t enough, Spain ended the game after half an hour after Ferrán exchanged the penalty awarded to Jordi Alba for the goal. According to? No. From the substitutes’ bench, Luis Enrique has asked his players to keep looking for more goals.

In any case, in the last stretch of the first part, the Spanish team took their foot off the accelerator and adjusted. Meanwhile, Costa Rica tried to get a little more out of their own field but it was impossible for them to reach the opponent’s goal as they failed to grab the ball, to such an extent that they didn’t shoot on target throughout the game . In this, the performance of the Spanish midfield was fundamental, especially Sergio Busquets, always in force.

The second half started as the first half ended. With the difference that Spain accelerated quickly again. With the game more to the right, from that sector it kept finding cracks in the bottom of Costa Rica, very fragile.

Then, Ferrán filtered into the center looking for a cross, won the ball and position over Keylor Navas and Oviedo and set up a half-turn for the fourth goal and the second of his own.

At that point, the debut in the World Cup for Spain already seemed like a workout and for Costa Rica a nightmare. Luis Enrique took the opportunity to move the bench and make changes that allowed him to dose the charges for what is to come, Sunday’s duel against Germany.

But it lacked more. Spain continued to sink Navas, who despite his efforts was unable to prevent the rout from growing when Gavi he appeared between the Costa Rican defenders to connect a cross from the left with the outside face of his right boot and put the ball past the left post of the rival goalkeeper who had raced back to goal after coming out to cut off an advancing Spaniard.

And there were two more to complete a historic win. One came on time as Soler pushed the ball in which Navas let him serve after the goalkeeper dived to intercept a cross from the right. And the other, already on sale, with a left foot from Morata on an assist from Dani Olmo.

Spain has won, appreciated and beaten. He built a historic victory to show his candidate credentials from the start and now he goes to Germany.
