Top Race: Diego Azar, double champion in Buenos Aires

Diego Azar he was crowned champion twice superior race finishing second in the last round of the season, which was held this Sunday at Oscar and Juan Gálvez racetrack from Buenos Aires. Del Viso’s man (Toyota) escorted to the podium a Gaston Rossi (Mercedes Benz), winner of a tough race; while George Barry (Toyota) finished third.

Two drivers had reached the last round of the season with the possibility of retaining the title, Azar, leader of the standings, and Luis Jose Di Palma (Fiat), second, with one unit less than the pointer. And they got all the attention in a race with lots of bookings, which Rossi won from start to finish.

The man from Santa Fe started first, followed by Barrio, Azar and Di Palma, in that order. And there were no changes in the top positions until the second raise of the test.

The first neutralization took place on the fourth lap, due to an oversight by Javier Balsano and the second, after the cars of Adrian Chiriano and of Matias Capurro they will be crossed on the track, even after going off the track. Each time, when the speed returned, all eyes were on the second row and the fight between the two candidates, who didn’t give each other a break.

In the second raise, Rossi came close with Barrio and Azar took advantage of that moment to overtake the man from Pinamar and position himself as an escort for the man from Santa Fe, starting to tip the balance of the title fight in his favour. Furthermore, shortly after, Di Palma also collided with Barrio, got confused and, despite rejoining the race very quickly, lost several positions.

A strong impact between Russian Matias Y Juan Perea on the main straight he brought in the Safety Car for the third time and the race resumed with six minutes to go, with Rossi comfortably in front and Azar in second place.

Di Palma, down to sixth place, took advantage of the final minutes to recover ground: he defeated chatty and advanced to fifth and then moved up to fourth, after moving to sapag. But it wasn’t enough for him to reach his title goal, as he needed to finish ahead of Azar to be champion.

“It’s inexplicable, I have no words. This end of the year has been very hard for me, I have total uncertainty for the rest of the year. But I think I have done things very well in these two years, it has cost me a lot. This thanks to the whole Toyota team,” commented the man from Del Viso in a chat with carburetionminutes after signing his consecration.

Azar, who repeated last year’s celebrations and added his second category title, finished with 314 points, eight more than Di Palma (306) and 44 ahead of Ciarrochi (Ford), third.

Secondly, Luke farm (Toyota) became champion of Top Race Series in the last appointment, which also took place at the Buenos Aires racetrack.

Victory in the final race went to the chaco Lucas Bohdanowicz (Toyota), which with this result finished second in its category, while Granja finished in second place and the podium was completed by Juninense Luca Gamberté (Ford).

In Junior Race Topthe final was won by San Juan john cruz rock (Mercedes), followed by the Buenos Aires Matias Montero (Toyota) and the Tigrense Augustine Joseph (Through). Franco Beatini (Mercedes), fifth, had already won the title.
