The truth is that Canelo, a few minutes before the match against Argentina, used his goals to apologize to Messi.

“In recent days I have let myself be carried away by the passion and love I feel for my country and I have made inappropriate comments about what I want to apologize to Messi and to the Argentine people. Every day we learn something new and this time it was my turn” the boxer said on his Twitter account.

And he added: “I wish both teams much success in their games today and here we will continue to support Mexico until the end.”

The truth is Canelo was unable to celebrate in the end. Mexico beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 but, on goal difference, finished third and he was eliminated from Qatar 2022.

How did the conflict arise?

The famous boxer erupted when he saw a viral video in which the Argentine was accused of stepping on a jersey with the colors of the Mexican team.

“Did you see Messi cleaning the floor with our shirt and flag????”Canelo wrote in the first of his tweets.

And then it was for more: “That I ask God not to find him!!”, fired, in a threatening tone. The text was accompanied by punch and anger emojis.

“Just like (I) respect Argentina, (he) must respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country (Argentina) I talk about Messi for the blowjob he gave”Canelo insisted.

The image has to do with the celebrations of the national team in the locker room of the Lusail stadium after the 2-0 victory over Tata Martino’s team, for the second round of group C of the World Cup in Qatar.

In an excerpt from the video, Lio seems to take off his boots without realizing that he was wearing a rival team shirt underneath. That was what bothered Canelo, beyond the fact that his followers tried to explain to him that it was a random situation. Eventually, he had to apologise.
