Several Brazilian media speculated that the three-times world champion’s health conditions were getting worse, despite Pelé’s sons having assured in recent days that their father’s situation is not serious.

Speculations in the Brazilian press

Since he was operated on for cancer, Pelé has undergone a cycle of chemotherapy sessions which has forced him to go to the hospital several times to closely monitor his evolution.

As reported by the Brazilian press this Saturday, Pelé no longer responds to the chemotherapy treatment he had been undergoing since last September, when he underwent surgery for intestinal cancer.

Earlier this year, he was diagnosed with metastases in his intestines, lungs and liver. according to the newspaper Folha, Pelé is in exclusive palliative care. This means that chemotherapy has been stopped and that you continue to receive comfort measures to relieve pain and shortness of breath, for example, without having invasive therapies.
