That was Carey Price’s second start this season. The goaltender bounced back from a 3-0 loss to the New York Islanders (New window) Friday.

The Wild got their first power play in just six minutes into the first period when Brendan Gallagher was called up for tripping Kirill Kaprizov.

Kevin Fiala took the opportunity to score his thirtieth goal of the season and the first of the night.

Minutes later, it was Montreal’s turn to have a one-man advantage, but Minnesota goaltender Cam Talbot prevented the Habs ’attacks.

By the end of the period, when the Canadian was missing one man, Tyler Pitlick was hoping to beat Talbot in a breakaway, but the goalkeeper resisted with his powerful wrist shot.

No. thought. 24 Canadian he retaliated when he found the back of the net at 12:13 of the second period.

The goal was however disallowed, the referees judged to have obstructed the goalkeeper when Laurent Dauphin pushed Frederick Gaudreau towards Cam Talbot.

The Canadiens players retired to the locker room after the second period, one goal still behind.

The second goal of the game was scored early in the third period by Matt Boldy taking advantage of the return offered by Carey Price.

The Habs couldn’t take advantage of a power play with just over seven minutes left in the final period.

That’s why Montreal was unable to stop Cam Talbot despite 26 shots on goal against 30 for Minnesota.

Marc-André Fleury wasn’t the starting goaltender for the Wild on Tuesday night, which didn’t stop him from congratulating Carey Price during the warm-up.

Price had knee surgery on July 23 and also addressed a substance abuse problem in the fall by enrolling in the NHL and Players Association assistance program. His last fight before Friday was on July 7th.

The Wild (48-21-7) have now won five of their last six meetings and are guaranteed a place in the playoffs.
