The images are shocking. A video featuring the former footballer showing Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o kneeling an “Algerian YouTuber” went viral on social media on Tuesday.
The images reveal how the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot) punched ‘Sadouni SM -who has 66,000 YouTube followers- in the face, who fell to the ground from the impact.
Eto’o was surrounded by several people who failed to stop him despite their best efforts.
The scene took place at stadium 974, the one with the containers recognizable in the images, at the end of the round of 16 match between Brazil and South Korea (4-1). In the video you can also see the Brazilian fans with their yellow shirts.
At the beginning of the 57-second video, Eto’o, wearing a blue beanie, takes selfies with fans before being approached by the ‘youtuber. He says something to him that is indistinguishable and the former player goes mad with rage.
It is possible that the ‘youtuber mentioned the second leg of the playoffs between Algeria and Cameroon (1-2) in which the ‘indomitable Lions’ qualified for this World Cup at the expense of the ‘Greens’.
“I did all this for Algeria,” Sadouni SM explained in a video on Tuesday.
“I’m at the police station for investigations. This video must be shared, since Eto’o is famous, I’m afraid they are hiding the case, but I trust the Qatari police,” added the youtuber in this video.
Eto’o “broke my camera and microphone, he hit me here (pointing to his chin),” he explained.
A Fécafoot official told AFP that Eto’o declined to comment.
