A ‘mini Brazil’ emerges in Pakistan for the World Cup
Dressed in green and yellow jerseys, tens of thousands of Pakistanis will celebrate this Friday the goals that Brazil scored against Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, a country that feels the triumphs of the five-time champion as its own and hosts a known as “mini Brazil”.
More than 20,000 fans have already gathered in this suburb of the western city of Karachi to watch the match together from a giant screen, located in a small park in this neighborhood, which on matchdays is more like Rio de Janeiro than Islamabad.
“If Brazil wins, we are ready to dance and celebrate the victory,” Munir Ahmed, one of the fans who went to Lyari, the neighborhood’s real name, told EFE.
