The NBA has changed the name of its awards: the MVP trophy will be called Michael Jordan

The NBA announced this Tuesday that it will rename the prizes it awards each year at the end of each season with the names of different legends from the best league in the world.

The project was informed through a statement signed by Adam Silver, NBA commissioner, who explained that his goal is to pay homage to its greatest figures.

“Our new trophy collection celebrates some of the greatest and most impactful players in NBA history,” he explained.

In addition to the Michael Jordan Trophy, there will also be the Hakeem Olajuwon in tribute to the former Houston Rockets player. This will replace the Defensive Player of the Year award.
