The partners and the candidates are counting on Matías Lammens for the suspension of the elections

The voice had begun to ring loud in the midst of the World Cup euphoria. The version circulated on social media and political actors, every time they were consulted, returned a sigh of uncertainty. Until yesterday morning the news was made flesh. And in the morning the media bomb exploded: the San Lorenzo elections, which should have been held today in the headquarters on Avenida La Plata, were suspended by the Inspectorate General of Justice (IGJ). And behind the movement, the candidates point to Matías Lammens, former president and minister of tourism and sports.

The body headed by the Kirchnerist Ricardo Nissen, who was authorized by the sons of Cristina Fernández in the Hotesur SA case, signed the resolution declaring the convocation for the elections of the Assembly on August 18, the day on which it was resolved to advance the electoral act. And it is based on the denunciation of Roberto Gagliardone, a deputy who is part of the list led by Cipriano Pommies, a rice merchant.

Gagliardone explained that the Board of Directors has a mandate in force until December and that they are in office, therefore -as confirmed by Nissen- that the “immediate” cessation within and no later than 10 days from the elections for all members elected in the 2019 is “a premature interruption” and “without a reliable expression of will” generates “a very serious injury to political rights”.

Now, if everything had been agreed in the August assembly, also in agreement with the board of directors led by Horacio Arreceygor after the resignation of Marcelo Tinelli, why did Gagliardone denounce this irregularity, if basically he ran on a list that was to fight for power? The polls did not give Pommies and in the world of Barça there was already talk of a “collector” list. On that list is José Capria, who was secretary in the directorate of Luis Savino.

The polls were lapidary, especially for the ruling party. With the figure of Lammens exhausted, moving in the shadows, with Sergio Costantino, man of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and close to the minister as the main candidate, the chances of continuity were dynamite. An absolutely logical situation from the management of the deficit in economic and sporting terms, beyond the last year in which Ruben Darío Insúa held the position and qualified the team for the Copa Sudamericana. Even this goal achieved didn’t stop the insults from the fans, common in every match.

“This is impossible without a wink from a minister,” César Francis, a minority singer and opposition presidential candidate, told Clarín. Marcelo Moretti, who had planned to appear for “Boedo en Acción” expressed himself in the same vein. He was the only leader who approached the IGJ headquarters with a group of lawyers – the gastronomic entrepreneur is also a lawyer – and fired: “They took away our right to vote, Lammens suspended the elections with the arguments of Francis and the study by a member of the Pommies. The only real opponents are us. Democracy is over. As of today there is a de facto government in the club”. Francesco wanted the elections on October 29, but since he takes sides minority, it lost its internal relevance. The date of December 17 was therefore accepted. And it didn’t work either.

Moretti will ask for the resignation of the current members of the Board of Directors; Francesco, meanwhile, is evaluating which legal path to take. Pommies played his card. Meanwhile, Enrique Ronzoni, another of the candidates, has not spoken publicly.

“At the time of the decision to bring forward the elections, there were no arguments other than the demands of an indeterminate number of partners who demonstrated in different spaces such as the stadium or social networks,” Nissen said in its resolution, number 1452.

Fans started mobilizing through Twitter. Many went to the office on Avenida La Plata, where the vote was to be held today. “12/16. Democracy is dead” and “Lammens traitor”, were the black posters with white letters they displayed. Also, they lit candles.

As happened at Independiente, the elections will be postponed to San Lorenzo. A mess.
