“They don’t allow us to greet people at the Obelisk,” Chiqui Tapia pointed to safety due to the caravan’s abrupt end, but praised Sergio Berni

The joy of the people flooded the streets of Buenos Aires and the Conurbano, and the Argentina World Champion Team he failed to complete the tour which he had planned to celebrate with fans.

With more than 4 million people on the streets, the bus failed to reach the Obeliskand players boarded helicopters at Parque Roca to fly over the fans.

A few minutes later, he thanked the province of Buenos Aires”led by its security minister Sergio Berniwho was the only one who accompanied the entire journey up to the entrance to the capital without registering any accidents, allowing the players to embrace the Argentine people”.

At one point, the madness for the Argentine national team was such that a fan jumped off a bridge to sneak onto the Scaloneta bus.

AFA sources said that when this happened, the security agencies made the decision to cut off the caravan because the situation had already gotten out of hand.

For her part, the spokesperson for the Presidency, Gabriela CerruttiHe provided the government’s version and stated that it had become impossible to continue with the caravan “to the explosion of popular joy”.

“The World Champions are flying over the entire course in a helicopter as it has become impossible to continue by land due to the outburst of popular joy. Let us continue to celebrate in peace and show them our love and admiration!” wrote the officer.

With millions and millions of Argentines pouring into the streets, the national team bus left the AFA headquarters in Ezeiza around 12:00.

What was at first supposed to be a passage through the Obelisk and the Casa Rosada was soon excluded by the AFA itself.

The parent company of Argentine football said that, initially, the caravan of players would greet fans from the 25 de Mayo and 9 de Julio highways.

“The national team will go from Ricchieri to General Paz. From there it will go to Lugones, then from Lugones to Paseo del Bajo. There it will go until May 25, where it will stop on July 9, in view of the players towards the Obelisk. Once finished, returns directly from May 25 through Dellepiane/Ricchieri”, they reported.

But that, too, had to be ruled out. After several hours on the roof of the bus, the players basked in the sun in a bus that moved at a crawl, among a throng of people.

At around 4pm, the caravan had just traveled just over 15 kilometers from the AFA property.
