The consecration of the Argentina national team at the World Cup in Qatar 2022 and the celebrations of millions of fans have given life to a new decoration for these Holidays: blue and white fans to decorate the Christmas tree.
Javier De La Fuente is 40 years old, defines himself as a “normal football fan” and was an advertising creative until five years ago. On December 20, when the caravan of the National team toured some points in the province of Buenos Aires to receive the affection of the people for such a goal, something snapped in the head of the entrepreneur who decided to create the decorations.
The image that stuck in his head was that of fans climbing a Christmas tree at one point on the route of the convertible bus that brought the champion team. In conversation with Clarín, De La Fuente says that when he saw the photo he thought it was a fake image, but after looking at it in detail he realized it was real. Something had to be done with such a postcard from the Argentine champion in the Arab lands.
“First I checked if someone had already done it and I realized that no,” he explains while specifying that one of Poppular’s games is Mazo Argento, a version of the Spanish cards, but with Argentine images like Lionel Messi, for example.
De La Fuente does not sell directly to the public, but through various outlets, but sometimes, to promote, he generates this type of product. “The idea was to do it quickly because the holidays are coming. It is a perfect synthesis of the time. The World Cup and Christmas. The image is spectacular. It synthesizes the two things,” he points out.
Uriel de Simoni helps Javier with social networks, where they promote fans who look down on the tree at the gifts that Santa leaves. “The truth is that it got out of hand, we didn’t expect such an impact,” he admits.
When asked which fans of that image caught her eye, she said she chose the “most representative”. “There’s one that has a flag and he’s doing an impressive balance,” she recalls.
Downloading the images is free through the Poppular editorial page.
Despite claiming to be a “normal football fan” and River fan, De La Fuente confesses that, like many, he becomes a fanatic when the World Cup arrives. “I get a lot more introverted,” he admits.
Regarding the team that was consecrated on December 18 in Qatar, he notes: “It has a mystique that hasn’t been seen in a long time. Messi’s figure is incredible and many lessons can be learned from his life ”. “He Withdrew and returned. It’s a lesson you shouldn’t give up even if you’re the best,” he concludes.
Argentina, the country to which Lionel Messi has once again declared his love and to which he asked not to try to understand, will have the most footballing Christmas Eve in history, with garlands, green and red pyxes and fans wearing jerseys of the Argentine shouting “give him the champion”.
