It was Kely Cristina Nascimento, one of his eight daughters and sons, who confirmed the news of the death with a heartfelt post on Instagram.

“All that we are is because of you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” wrote Kely, with an image showing Pelé’s hands intertwined with those of his relatives, in bed at the Albert Einstein Hospital (San Pablo), where he was hospitalized due to advanced cancer to the colon.

Kely, 55, is the eldest of Pele’s children. She was, during these long weeks, the spokesperson for the family. In her account she has uploaded photos and videos of Pele, always in a parting atmosphere.

“Almost everyone. Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, union, family. The essence of Christmas”, she wrote on the occasion of December 25, surrounded by her sister Flavia (54), her brother Edinho (DT of Londrina), his wife of Pele, Marcia Aoki and grandchildren.
