“It’s a serious double blow, but still solvable. I’m hoping for a favorable outcome. It will be difficult for a while, but I will fight with all the strength I have.” secured one of the legends of women’s tennis.

The former athlete born 66 years ago in the former Czechoslovakia recalled that she had already been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010

“When they told me, I cried for 15 seconds. Then I said to the doctor, ‘Okay, what do we do now?'”told the winner of 59 Grand Slam titles: 18 singles and 41 doubles.

Navratilova recovered last November from a large lymph node in her throat, after which she underwent new studies that allowed her to identify the two new tumors. Breast cancer is a human papillomavirus (HPV), one of the most treatable.

Navratilova clarified that she will not be working as a commentator on the Tennis Channel for the upcoming Australian Open and will begin treatment in New York very soon. Her great rival on the court and turned friend of hers, Chris Evert, had revealed in January 2022 that she was suffering from ovarian cancer.
