Recovery of Damar Hamlin anticipates with “positive signs” this Wednesday, two days after the safety of the United States NFL Buffalo Bills suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, although he remains hospitalized in critical condition in the treatment center where he finds was transferred after receiving first aid.
“Damar remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition, albeit with signs of improvement noted yesterday and into Wednesday night. He is expected to remain in intensive care while doctors continue to monitor and treat him.”reported the team board through a press release.
Damar Hamlin, 24, suffered a cardiac arrest during the Bengals-Bills duel, the last of week 17 of the 2022 NFL season, which was suspended without a restart date after the incident occurred in the first quarter.
In the play in which the injury occurred, defensive back hit Bengals catcher Tee Higgins who brought down; Hamlin got up after the tackle, but once he was on his feet he collapsed dramatically onto his back, hitting his head on the grass as he fell.
Paramedics at Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Bengals, entered the field and applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); once stabilized, Hamlin was taken to hospital by ambulance, albeit unable to breathe on his own.
On Tuesday, Damar’s family released a statement asking the NFL community to continue praying for the player’s recovery.
“On behalf of our family we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this difficult time. Please keep Damar in your prayers. We will post updates as soon as we have them,” was the message shared by the Hamlin family.
The good news about Hamlin’s health was confirmed by the player’s marketing representative, Jordon Rooney. “Let’s all stay optimistic”he assured in a telephone conversation with the international agency AP.
Rooney said Hamlin’s family remains encouraged by the support they have received from around the world for the Bills player, who is in his second year in the NFL.
Damar Hamlin, who played for the Pittsburgh Panthers in college football, was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The defenseman had 15 games this season in which he had 91 tackles, 63 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks.
