The Argentine point guard spoke a few days ago on his social networks and expressed that his greatest wish is for them to let him play. “I’m tired and sad about this whole situation. The only thing I’m asking is for you to let me play”stressed on his Twitter account Cordovan, who is a teammate of Luca Vildoza, who is injured and hasn’t played in recent weeks.

Red Star praised the “loyalty” de Campazzo for staying in Belgrade despite not being able to play in the Euroleague.

“With this gesture, Campazzo has shown that he is not only an extraordinary basketball player, but that he is also a better person, that he knew how to choose where to go but decided to remain as a member of our club”.thanked the club.

On the field shortly after, Real Madrid – who didn’t have Argentinian Gabriel Deck – continued their good momentum with a solid 79-59 victory in Belgrade, which keeps them in the lead.

The origin of Campazzo’s disqualification

Apart from the particular situation in Campazzo, Red Star is sanctioned by the Euroleague Financial Panel after finding the Serbian club guilty of the Financial stability and fair play regulations.

“The sanctions imposed take into account the seriousness of the offences, which included overdue debts with players from the current and previous seasons, as well as the provision of false or inaccurate information, which has enabled the club to gain an unfair competitive advantage and continue with the its normal operations despite an irregularity”the Euroleague said in a statement.

“The Jury also assessed the recidivism, given that the Serbian club had previously been sanctioned on two other occasions in recent years”He continued.

The Serbian club cannot register new basketball players until March 1grappling with the latest instances of the Euroleague, and among these is Campazzo, who signed in recent days after his irregular time in the NBA in the last three seasons.

However, the Balkan team will try to challenge the sanction at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) to try to have all its reinforcements in the top continental competition at club level.
