Daniel Alves arrested in Spain after sexual harassment allegations

Daniel Alves (39) was detained by the Spanish police this Friday, the 20th, due to an investigation into an alleged crime of sexual harassment committed by him, according to the police of Barcelona.

He was detained after giving testimony the same morning at a police station in the city, according to the Spanish TV network RTVE.

Police have yet to say why the player was detained during the deposition – there was no initial arrest warrant against him.

The complaint that led to the investigation was made by a woman who was at the same party as the player on the night of December 30, 2022, in a Barcelona nightclub.

She claimed that she was harassed by Alves. Club officials called the police, but when officers arrived at the scene, the player had already left, according to the complaint.

In an interview with a TV program in Spain, days ago, Alves claimed that he was just dancing, without invading anyone’s space.

“I’ve been to this place, and anyone who knows me knows that I love to dance, but without invading anyone’s space, respecting spaces. And when you go to the bathroom, you don’t have to ask who’s there to use the bathroom. I don’t know who it is this lady, I never saw her. In all these years I never invaded anyone’s space without authorization”declared the player.
