Daniel Alves changes testimony and says he had consensual sex with the victim

The soccer player Daniel Alves changed his statement and now claims he had consensual sex with the 23-year-old woman, who accuses him of rape in a nightclub on December 31, 2022.

When the story surfaced, the athlete gave a statement to Spanish TV denying knowing the victim. However, according to the Spanish newspaper ‘El Periódico’ he had inconsistencies in his testimony and assumed he had had a relationship with her. It is worth remembering that he is married and was in Spain because the mother of his Spanish wife, the model Joana Sanz, had died.

Daniel Alves is jailed without bail and on his first night behind bars, he underwent medical tests to understand whether his biological sample matches the one found in the young woman’s examination.

Since denouncing the complaint, the woman has already been tested, which found marks compatible with the alleged fight she had with the athlete, and gave testimony. The cameras at the site have already been checked and confirmed that the two entered the bathroom together, as well as local officials. Samples from the club’s bathroom were also collected and the dress the victim was wearing that night was given by her to the police.

Daniel Alves faces more than 10 years in prison

If convicted, the athlete can face 1 to 12 years in prison in the country. The Mexican club where he played, Pumas, terminated the contract with the player.
