If it’s a classic, the field is full: it doesn’t matter if there are points up for grabs. This is what happened in Córdoba, with a stadium full of spectators who filled the capacity allowed and gave color to a transcendent match for the fans. Talleres flourished with a 3-0 victory and welcomed Belgrano after reclaiming its place in the professional league.

With goals from Francisco Pizzini and Rodrigo Garro in the first half and Julio Buffarini, from a penalty, in the second half, Talleres achieved their first victory of the year, given that in the friendlies played last week against Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica, fell 2 to 1 and 1 to 0, respectively.

Belgrano, on the other hand, came off a successful tour of Uruguay, in which they beat Unión de Santa Fe 2-0 and, after a two-goal draw, beat Nacional de Montevideo 4-2 on penalties.

In this way the record – counting all the games played against each other, without distinction of categories, official or friendlies – was equal: each one beat its classic rival on 33 occasions.

When the Professional Soccer League tournament kicks off next week, Talleres will host Independiente on Saturday 28 at 19:15, while Belgrano will visit Racing the following day, at 19:15.
