In front of this panorama, the RFEF came out to clarify the situation and released an official statement on its website to explain.

“In accordance with the RFEF award protocols and taking into account both the high number of institutional representativesin addition to the infrastructure for accessing the pits from the grass of the stadium, the Protocol department has decided to activate the delivery ceremony in the stands in the same way it takes place in the Copa del Rey: delivery of the Cup to the captain of the champion team and delivery of medals to the winning team on grass/changing rooms,” the Spanish body published.

This last section of the communiqué is the one that attracts attention, because it speaks of handing out the medals to the protagonists on the “grass” or in the “locker room”, but not collecting them on their own.

Furthermore, the RFEF added: “This is the same award ceremony that took place in the last edition of the Women’s Super Cup in 2022.”

As the Spanish media recalled, in the men’s Copa del Rey in 2021, also won by Barcelona, and in 2022, obtained by Betis, the medals were not distributed even by the authorities and the delivery took place in the privacy of the locker room. On the other hand, there was the delivery in the Copa de la Reina 2022, in which the culé team was also established.

A strong consecration

The Barcelona women’s team got theirs first title of the season with a strong performance and confirmed his status as ruler of the specialty, with three Spanish Super Cups, seven championships and nine Queen’s Cups.

Aitana Bonmatí scored twice and was chosen as the player of the match in the final, while the rest of the Catalan side’s victory came from Oshoala in added time.
